New Children’s Hospital

Hoarding -Youth project

For this project we approached New Children’s Hospital with a proposal for a youth street art project. After a couple of months of planning, we began teaching 30 children and youth to spray paint, working on a practice wall in the studio, and then brought them out to the hoarding surrounding the hospital site. After a few weeks we had 60 metres of hoarding painted, and were then asked to continue working with the kids to paint another 30 metres, as the artwork was getting such a positive response. Another few weeks later and 90 metres of hoarding is now complete.

Very proud of all of the kids involved, none of whom had ever picked up a can of spray paint before this project.
The theme of the mural was Irish mythology and legends. The stories flowing out of the story teller’s book are Tir na nOg, Children of Lir, Cuchulainn and Grainne Mhaol.
